Dear MUN participants,
welcome to our conference!
My name is Laura Tradii, and I will be chairing the Human Rights committee.
Despite my British look, I’m 100% Italian, and I am currently attending Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazia Deledda. I enjoy learning languages, especially English, French and German (I know that some delegates come from these countries: GeMUN will be a great chance to improve our language skills and know each other!)
After having taken part to MUNs as a delegate in Genoa, Belfast, Cairo City and Milan, this will be my first experience as a chair, and it’s your duty, dear HR delegates, to make it unforgettable!
The topics we are going to face are not simple at all, but, as a chair, I promise I will do my best to make the debate interesting and lively. Enjoy debating in a marvelous setting, the “Sala del Maggior Consiglio”, experiencing a leap back in time, and cooperate together in creating the best resolutions of ever.
I got a feeling: that this MUN conference is gonna be a good one!
My best wishes for your Italian MUN experience.
Dear delegates,
It is my great pleasure to introduce you to this year's GeMUN conference here in Genoa.
My name is Leandro Phillips and I am chairman of the HR committee. I’m 18 years old, I live in Recco, a small town near Genoa famous for its “focaccia col formaggio” and I’m attending my last year in high school, waiting for the final exams.
This is my first official chairing experience and I’m very honoured and excited and proud about it because I had to work very hard to be assigned this position . My MUN “career” started here in Genoa in 2007 as the delegate for Niger and from that day on, I’ve discovered that MUNs are precious experiences which can turn you into a mature and responsible adult.
As I attended other conferences in Milan and Belfast, I realised that I’ve become more knowledgeable not only by discussing the issues we’re dealing with, but also by meeting people from all over the world and understanding their way of thinking and style of life. Nonetheless, these conferences help you gain more self-confidence which is perhaps the most important thing that will help you to succeed in life and achieve your goals, whatever they might be.
In this conference my main objective is to make you feel 100% comfortable, making sure you are going to have an unforgettable experience and have loads of fun together!
All the best and Good Luck!
Leandro Phillips
Dear GeMUN 2010 participants,
welcome all to our 2010 conference.
My name is Michela Zanda and I am 16 years old. I am attending the 3rd year at Liceo Internazionale Grazia Deledda, where I am currently studying English, French and Spanish.
It is with great pleasure and honour that I have been appointed Deputy Chair in the Humanitarian and Social Committee in GeMUN 2010. It is my 4th MUN experience. I took part in GeMUN 2009, MilanMUN 2009 and MCBMUN 2009 as delegate .
I am glad that GeMUN gives us the valuable opportunity to discuss burning topics such as “Establishing an effective system to provide humanitarian help for countries affected by natural disasters”, “Protecting ethnic minorities with a special focus on the preservation of the cultural identity” and “Combatting child illiteracy worldwide”. It is my hope that, through a fruitful co-operation and hard work, we will be able to find gratifying solutions to these weighty issues.
Delegates, feel confident to ask anything about the topics or the procedures during the conference.
Yours faithfully,
Michela Zanda
Deputy Chair of the Humanitarian and Social Committee
Dear GeMUN participants,
I am Kenzy Mazhar, Deputy Secretary General of Cairo American College
MUN Club this year. I am both proud and honored to be invited to your
esteemed conference and to be offered this distinguished appointment
of Chair in the Human Rights committee. The year 2009 witnessed many
global struggles and compelling human rights issues. Natural disasters
such as floods in India, tsunamis in the South Pacific, Hurricane
Jimena in Mexico and the sea level rise in the Maldives threatened
the existence of whole nations. Moreover, the fundamental rights of
ethnic minorities to be equally protected before the law and to enjoy
their own culture, use their own language, dress up in their own
traditional outfits and practice their own religion are violated in
many parts of our world. Additionally, circumstances that force
millions of children to leave schools before they become fully
literate in many poor nations take place on daily basis driving these
children to work under conditions where they are constantly exploited.
I invite the members of the human rights committee to convene and
unite their efforts to contribute to provide humanitarian help for
countries affected by natural disasters, for ethnic minorities
suffering from racial and cultural discrimination and for children who
need education and humane conditions to live in. I am looking forward
for a fruitful session of GeMUN 2010 and for successful resolutions
created by our collective labor and certainly for a memorable
experience of promoting peace, justice and welfare.
Sincerely,
Kenzy Mazhar

Hello my name is Greta D'Alessandro,
I am the chair of the Special
Conference. I am currently in my last year at high school , the
International School in Genoa. This is my fifth Model United Nations
experience, and first as chair!
I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
Dear MUN participants,
I am very proud to welcome you all to the 8th Genoa Model United Nation.
My name is Alessia Carrara and I΄m 16. I study English, German and Russian at Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazia Deledda. After taking part in three MUN conferences as a delegate (the most recent, unforgettable in Paris just three months ago, this year I am chair of the Special Conference on Limits of Growth.
I am well aware of the difficulties our topics present, but there is no need to be deterred. I am also sure that all the delegates will work hard together to reach the very best resolution. Let me add I participated in my first MUN conference as a delegate in the Special Conference committee and I recall the atmosphere which reigned; for this reason I am eager to chair for my first time.
With the Model United Nation sessions we have a great opportunity, delegates let-s not waste it!
All the best
Alessia Carrara
Dear Delegates,
My name is Alice Cotogno, I am sixteen and I am currently attending my third year of high school at Liceo Linguisto Deledda.
It is a great pleasure for me to be Deputy Chair of the Special Conference in GeMUN 2010.
This is going to be my 4th MUN experience and I hope everyone will have a wonderful time during our conference.
In my opinion MUNs give everyone enormous opportunity: we can learn much more than at school and I think that meeting people from different countries, with their own culture, habits, ideas and religion can be good fun and extremely interesting.
For these reasons I invite you to be active during the conference, and not to be shy.
For some people/students this might be their very first MUN experience, so if you have questions or doubts about the procedures or anything else, you can approach me or the other chairs and we will be glad to help you solve your problems.
I look forward to seeing you in Genoa,
The Deputy Chair of the Special Conference, Alice Cotogno.
My name is Giada Giustolisi, I'm 17 and inthe third year at
Deledda International School in Genoa: I study English, Russian and
German.
As your Under Secretary General, I'm very glad to welcome you all to
this session of Genoa Model United Nations 2010.
To those of you who are partecipating in MUN for the first time, I
would like to say there is nothing to worry about, because all of us
will help you out.
I would like to illustrate the importance and the aim of this event.
All the participants have a characteristic in common: we are all
here because we wish to collaborate to solve all the issues on the
agenda as well as possible.
We need feasible, pratical and useful resolutions: we all live n this
planet, and it's the only planet we have!
There are many serious problems which are getting worse and worse and
which must be solved! That's the reason why we are here!
So, to all those present, welcome once again and I am sure you will
work altogether with one purpose in mind: the welfare of our planet and
our world!
- Chair: Simonne Cepollina
- Chair: Ali Ramandan
- Deputy Chair: Anna Ranalli
- Deputy Chair: Susanna Capecchi
Hi delegates!!!
I am very pleased to welcome you to the GeMUN 2010 conference!
This year I am going to cover the role of Under Secretary General of the conference and am going to be the chair of the Disarmament and International Security Committee. I was born in New York City but live in Italy since I was one year old, and have a dual citizenship and proficiency in both languages. This year I am in twelfth grade, and unfortunately this is going to be my last year as a GeMUN participant. I have attended MUN’s in many countries such as Istanbul’s TIMUN, Holland’s HMUN and four years of GeMUN conferences. I have been a delegate for two years, being followed by a chairing year in the Human Rights committee and this year I will be the Under Secretary General of the conference. This year, the topics of the Disarmament committee are very delicate and demanding. These topics regard the issue of Establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Central Asia, Preventing and combating illicit brokering activities and Implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction (BTWC). I hope that all of the delegates will be active and prompt in this committee so that this conference will have a great success! Other than working, lobbying and passing resolution though, I look forward to have a lot of fun with everyone, delegates and chairs, and to meet many new and interesting people! See you soon,
Simonne
Dear fellow delegates and MUN directors,
I am much honoured and privileged to be appointed as this year’s Chair of the Disarmament & International Security Commission.
This is not my first time participating in GeMUN. I took part in GeMUN 2009 as a delegate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Special Conference Commission, and it is such a great pleasure for me to participate once more.
Not only has GeMUN allowed me to meet people from all around the world, from various cultures and religions, but has also raised my awareness on many concerns facing us today. This is the right place for us, the ‘young politicians’ of the world, to debate and discuss these issues.
I am really looking forward to heading back to Genoa in February, to meet you all.
I am confident you will all enjoy GeMUN, and the beautiful city of Genoa.
See you soon!
Ali H. Ramadan, Chair of Disarmament & Intl. Security of GeMUN 2010

Dear MUN delegates,
welcome to Genoa!
My name is Anna Ranalli, I'm seventeen years old.
My first MUN experience was at CACMUN 2008 in Cairo: it was amazing
and I liked it so much that I decided to carry on with my career. I
attended GeMUN 2009 and PaMUN 2009, they were both wonderful
experiences and I had the chance to meet a lot of nice foreign
students. I have always been a delegate in Disarmament Committee,
therefore I'm really happy to chair in this committee!
I'm sure that our cooperation will make GeMUN 2010 an unforgettable
experience. I'm looking forward to meeting you all in Genoa!
Dear delegates,
my name is Susanna Capecchi and I will be Deputy Chiar of the
Disarmament committee.
I am 17 years old and currently attend the German School in Genoa,
where I study German, English and French. I have taken part in three
beautiful MUN conferences as a delegate (GeMUN 2008 and 2009,
Istanbul’s TiMUN 2009) and I hope that GeMUN 2010 will be as
interesting and exciting as the others . As a deputy chair I will try
to do my best and ask you to take actively part in the debates and to
show your engagement! For any information or question I will be
pleased to help you (just add me on Facebook if you need!).
Good luck for the conference and enjoy our beautiful city!

Dear delegates,
I am Alba Quku and I am taking part in this GeMUN conference as a chair in EcoSoc.
I’m 17 years old and I am in my fourth year at Deledda international School, a school where I study French, English and German. I’m Albanian and lived in Italy since January 1997, so people don’t actuallyrealize I am not Italian.
This is my 6th Mun conference and the 2nd as a chair. My Mun career started as the delegate of UK in the special conference. I’ve also been to some foreign conferences: SPIMUN (Saint Petersburg) MIMUN (Milan) and THIMUN (The Hague). My first position as a chair was in the EcoSoc and I was so keen on it that I decided to apply again for this committee. Personally, I think that Muns are a great opportunity not to be missed . During the conferences I’ve always learnt something new, met new people and made new friends. Apart from the Mun world , I’m a normal girl who loves spending her spare time with friends, hanging out or doing shopping. I love reading and listening to music, having fun and dancing. I’m considered a little bit crazy, but that is better tham being a boring girl. You can find me on Facebook or on msn, my e-mail address is albi0308@hotmail.it . Please, don’t hesitate to write me, for any query. I’ll be glad to help you. Don’t forget to have fun and to enjoy Genoa.
Yours sincerely
Alba Quku
My name is Sabrina Defilippi, I’m 17 years old and I live in Genoa. I had my first MUN experience in 2008 in Genoa. I was the delegate of Pakistan in the ECOSOC committee. The second experience was in Cairo CACMUN in 2008. I was the delegate of DR Congo in the ECOSOC committee. In February 2009 I held the role of the delegate of Somalia in Disarmament Committee in GEMUN. In December I’m going to participate at PAMUN 2009, where I am the delegate of Norway in the ECOSOC committee.
I would like to be a Chair at GEMUN 2010 because it is important for me to enrich my experience and also because It’s interesting to change points of view and to have more responsibility. I also think that being a Chair will help me to develop my skills in speaking to a lot of people, also to add to my confidence.
Best regards
Sabrina
Dear Delegates,
Welcome to GeMUN 2010!
My name is Giulia Marini, and I’m seventeen years old. GeMUN 2010 will
be the fifth conference I attend, and the third in Genoa. My other two
experiences were at the HMUN in Holland and at TIMUN in Turkey.
I am a senior at the International School in Genoa, where I have
studied ever since I was three years old, learning Italian, English
and French. Personally, I find MUN conferences fantastic, and for me
they represent an opportunity to increase my debating skills, meet new
friends and have a great time.
This year I will be chairing the Economic and Social committee, where
I hope we will discuss interesting topics, pass brilliant resolutions,
but also have an amazing time!
I look forward to meeting all of you,
Best regards,
Giulia Marini

Hi everyone!!!
I’m Chiara Lori and I’ll be the Chair of Mediterranean Conference. I am attending the 4th year at Liceo Linguistico Grazia Deledda where I study English, French and German. I also speak a little bit of Portuguese. I like travelling very much because it gives me the possibility understanding other customs and traditions. This will be my first MUN as Chair but the eighth conference I am attending. I really enjoy these conferences because thanks to them I always meet new people and learn a lot of very important things concerning our world. From this Gemun I expect that delegates will co-operate together in order to find the best solutions to the problems of the agenda. I hope also that this will be my best conference ever.
Hi delegates!
I'm Omer Hamid, and I will be Chairing the Mediterranean Conference in
Genoa this year. This will be my second GeMUN conference, last year I
was a delegate of Iran and loved the experience of the conference, so
this year seems all the more exciting! I'm in my final year of A
Levels in Kuwait English School, and I know that my fellow students
and I are really looking forward to diving back into the atmosphere of
diversity and co-operation that we enjoyed so much last year. The best
thing about GeMUN is meeting people from all walks of life; all
nationalities and all faiths. Hopefully we can bring our own culture
to the mix too. I'm looking forward to starting the debate, given that
this would be my first Chair experience, and I'm sure we will end up
having a productive forum and definitely enjoy ourselves!
Looking forward to seeing you all in Genoa!
Omer Hamid.
Dear delegates and MUN Directors,

I am partly British and French, but I was born in Italy and I have always lived here.
This is only my second MUN experience. I was the delegate of Norway in last year’s GeMUN and this is my first time as Deputy Chair, but I hope it won’t be the last one!
In this conference my goal is to create a good atmosphere so that the discussions can be interesting and fruitful. I hope you all have the best time and great fun!
Best wishes and good luck!

It s a great pleasure for me to be the president of the Security Council at this GeMUN conference 2010.
First of all I would like to congratulate all the delegates of the Sc and others committees taking part in this conference .
In the Sc agenda we will face large number of pressing and serious problems in the world today such as the United Nations Assistance review in Afghanistan and the question of nuclear power in Iran.
The inspection of the new Iranian improvement site in Qom, conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency over this past few months , is a positive step. Together, we want to urge Tehran to take this step and cooperate fully with the IAEA on all pending issues.
And I would like to remind you delegates that The UN team in Afghanistan has lost colleagues and friends. The world has lost women and men committed to the values of peace, dignity and respect for all.
The GeMUN conference 2010 is starting in a month, I wish you all the best and I’m looking forward to meeting you in Genoa.
Sandra Samuel
President of the Security Council.
Dear delegates,
I am honoured to attend GeMUN this year as the chair of Security
Council. I have been to 8 MUN conferences in the past in 4 different
countries, and I can honestly say that GeMUN has been the most
enjoyable. The delegates are the most enthusiastic and friendly ones I
have come to meet yet and Genoa itself is a beautiful town to visit,
and I am glad to be attending GeMUN again.
Security Council delegates are by far the most capable ones in MUN
conferences and I am looking forward to working with you this year. I
expect GeMUN 2010 to be even better than its predecessor and I hope to
see you all there soon.
Best Wishes,
Abdullah Al Duwaisan,
Dear Delegates,
Welcome to this year’s Genoa Model United Nations Conference!
My name is Marta Olderico from Deledda International School and I will be the deputy chair for this year’s Security Council debate . I have been involved in MUNs since last year and i have attended three MUNs (GeMUN, MilanMUN and MCBMUNbut this is my first one as a deputy chair.
I'm sure that this Model United Nations will be a great opportunity to have new experiences, work hard and have fun.
Model United Nations is all about fighting to make our world a more equal, safe and enjoyable place to live in, even if it’s just in theory. I believe that even though discussing world problems is not a going to solve them it can still be a meaningful first step towards their resolution.
I am looking forward to meeting you all in Genoa.
Marta Olderico
